Elizabeth Matthews: Elmwood Lisburn

Last September I made the move from Hill Street Presbyterian Church Lurgan  to Elmwood Presbyterian Church in Lisburn and am completely convinced it was of the Lord.

As my time in Hill Street came to an end I knew my work there was over and the Lord had new plans for my life. It was amazing how He led me to Elmwood for a 6month period to lead the comunity ministry there as  the Kirk Session reviewed the situation.

They decided the way forward for the congregation was to employ a full time deaconess and so I applied for the post I thank God for how He has led me over the past months and has convinced me completely that I am right were He wants me to be.

Thanks to Elmwood congregation the warm loving welcome I received made it easy to settle into the work and ministry there. I praise God for His guidance and presence with me.

My work in Elmwood includes involvement in a P.I.P.(Parent and Infant Project) group run by Barnardos. Leading the Young at Heart Group which has been a great encouragement to me. An Adult and Toddler group,  Badminton Club, and One +One lunch or (come and bring a friend.)

I'm also involved with the pastoral care team and the outreach aim team. We hope to run a Christianity Explored course in the near future as well as a 6 week Fit for Life programme. Its' my privilege and pleasure to work along side my coloegue and friend Rev. Andrew Thompson and i thank him for his constant support andencouragement
